Post Construction Clean Caps Off Town Centre Regeneration Scheme
Waltham Cross Town Centre Regeneration Scheme Protected with Pave-Saver
After twelve months of transformative work, the regeneration project modernising Waltham Cross Town Centre was almost complete. Just one final, but important step remained, the post construction clean and application of a hard-wearing paving protector – Pave-Saver.
The Borough of Broxbourne Council led the drive to regenerate several areas of Waltham Cross, following their successful bid for government funds for a ‘Renaissance Programme’. The town centre was a key part of the wider programme, with its own regeneration project aimed at restoring community pride while addressing social, environmental, and economic needs.

To add that final flourish and lock in the new, improved look, Go-Gum Group’s subsidiary Surface Solve Ltd, were contracted by Danaher and Walsh, to undertake a post construction clean and application of a suitable paving protector. In total over 5,000m2 of new paving in Waltham Cross Town Centre was cleaned and protected.
For the cleaning duties, our street cleaning team used two Go-Gum Lanceman DiBO street cleaning machines. Each machine was crewed by a single operator, carefully cleaning the newly laid paving. Following on behind each DiBO machine, was another operative, whose responsibility was to lay down two applications of Pave-Saver.

Pave-Saver is our unique paving protector which protects the new paving surface from a variety of types of pollution, including discarded chewing gum. Pave-Saver helps pavements remain clean by repelling water, airborne dirt, acid rain, smog, industrial pollutants, oil and grease, dust and organic growth like lichens and moss. This product’s proven penetrating properties and stain-repellent formulation make it ideal for protecting pavements subjected to heavy footfall.
The improvements to the town centre create a striking visual contrast to its former self. Beyond its enhanced attractiveness, the town centre now boasts better accessibility with new pedestrian crossings, new paving and a shared cycle path. Landscaped areas and greenery, along with sustainable drainage, add to the area’s charm. Visitors can now enjoy more social spaces, including pocket parks, bicycle stands, new lighting, and street furniture. Commenting on the project, Rob Dixon, Managing Director of the Go-Gum Group said: “Our experienced team made multiple visits to the site during the final stages of the scheme. We worked with and around other site contractors to ensure that the final result was befitting of this fantastic town centre transformation.”
