Sheffield City Council Street Cleansing
Go-Gum were recently contracted to return to Sheffield City Centre to work with Amey PLC to deep clean and remove chewing gum blight from approximately 2,360sqm of paving, ahead of a Royal visit by her Majesty the Queen. Her Majesty was visiting Sheffield to distribute traditional Maundy Money, whereby two bags of coins were presented to 89 men and 89 women during a special service. For security reasons, Go-Gum were only given three days notice to complete the job. Using up to four cleaning rigs at once, the Go-Gum Street Cleaning Team were more than up to the task, despite the scale of the project and tight timescale, all the works were completed on time.
Go-Gum Managing Director, Rob Dixon commented: “We’ve worked with Amey PLC and Sheffield City Council previously, deep cleaning over 50,000sqm of paving in the city centre over a five month period. This is the second time we’ve been called to perform a deep clean and chewing gum removal. In total we deep cleaned another 50,000sqm of city centre paving at a rate of approximately 10,000sqm per month. It was an honour to help Sheffield City Council make Her Majesty’s visit to the city as welcoming as possible.”
