Fresh Black Tarmac Paint Rejuvenates 2,000 Capacity Events Space
BOXPARK Back in Business Post-Lockdown
Early in 2021, the owners of BOXPARK Croydon began planning for the easing of COVID-19 lockdown rules and the re-opening of their three venues in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley. The relaxing of the lockdown rules and the subsequent ‘Freedom Day’ allowed these modern day Covent Garden style piazzas to re-open to the public and get back to business.
As part of the preparations for the re-opening, over 600m² of tarmac within the central events space was given a thorough deep clean by our Surface Solve Street Cleaning Team, a division of the Go-Gum Group. Utilising our Go-Gum Lanceman DiBO hot water, low pressure steam cleaning machines, the operators deep cleaned the tarmac surface, removed all chewing gum, dirt and detritus, revealing a clean tarmac surface.

In order to rejuvenate and protect the freshly cleaned tarmac surface, our Back to Black Tarmac Paint was then applied. The Go-Gum Back to Black Tarmac Paint is a heavy duty, commercial quality, Tarmac paint and Asphalt refurbishment product, that not only re-colours faded and worn tarmac surfaces but also helps to increase the life span of the surface itself.
The pre-cleaning operations and tarmac painting was carried out overnight, during a four day period, so as to minimise disruption whilst other re-opening preparations took place during normal business hours. Our Surface Solve Street Cleaning Team also undertook Chewing Gum Removal cleaning operations at the BOXPARK in Shoreditch, around the perimeter of the site.

BOXPARK offers patrons almost every cuisine imaginable, all under one roof. The innovative structure of the facility allows visitors the opportunity to select from a variety of dishes, desserts and drinks and enjoy them together in one place. The Croydon venue also features a large events space which has hosted the likes of Stormzy, JME, Shift K3Y and Tim Westwood and has a calendar of diverse events including, movie screenings, live music, creative workshops, art exhibitions, spoken word and comedy nights, and an indoor market.
Commenting on the works, Go-Gum Managing Director Rob Dixon said: “BOXPARK Croydon is a truly unique venue and it was a pleasure to work with the team there, helping them to prepare for the post lockdown re-opening. Seeing thousands of England football fans enjoying the Euro 2020 Finals in the newly refurbished events space proved to be the perfect comeback from a difficult period for many.”
